چکیده

In 67-year-old woman without any cardiac or neurologic symptoms, a transesophageal echocardiogram showed a rounded mass attached to the non-coronary cusp of the aortic valve (Video 1). We excised the tumor with preservation of the valve (Fig. 1). Gross examination (Fig. 2) and light microscopy confirmed the diagnosis of papillary fibroelastoma. Fig. 1. Intraoperative gross appearance of the papillary fibroelastoma attached to the non-coronary cusp of the aortic valve. Fig. 2. Gross specimen from the non-coronary cusp demonstrates the typical macroscopic appearance resembling a sea anemone.

Background: Primary intra cardiac tumors are rare. In this article, we present papillary fibroelastoma of mitral valve chordae. Case Presentation: A 35-year old man presented with atypical chest pain and palpitation. Physical examination and electrocardiogram were normal. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) revealed a mass of 1015 mm attached to chordae of anteromedial papillary muscle of ...

Aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma. A diagnosis by transthoracic echocardiography.

Cardiac papillary fibroelastomas are unusual, frond-like growths typically found on cardiac valves, diagnosed incidentally on autopsy or cardiac surgery, but rarely during life. We report a rare case of an aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma detected by transthoracic echocardiography and confirmed by histologic study.

Native Aortic Valve Thrombosis Resembling Papillary Fibroelastoma

The differential diagnosis of cardiac mass is important in determining the therapeutic plan and avoiding unnecessary surgical intervention. Non-invasive imaging methods would be useful in the diagnosis of suspected cardiac mass, because they may provide earlier diagnosis and more accurate assessment of cardiac mass. Native aortic valve thrombosis is a rare disorder and difficult to differentiat...

Surgical treatment of aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma with neurofibromatosis (von Recklinghausen's disease).

A 69-year-old man with a medical history of neurofibromatosis was transferred to our hospital for the treatment of an aortic valve mass. His workup identified an aortic valve papillary fibroelastoma based on the absence of signs of infection, thrombus in the left atrium, and valvular destruction or abnormal valvular function. A tumor was excised under cardiopulmonary bypass. The pathology of th...

Surgical treatment of papillary fibroelastoma in the aortic valve: a case report.

With the exception of myxomas, primary tumors of the heart are very rare. We present here our experience with papillary fibroelastoma in the aortic valve. We could not preserve the aortic valve because of the wide attachment of the tumor to the valve and aortic regurgitation.
